Who is Homegrown Sounds?

Homegrown Sounds is run solely by me these days (Andy). It was started up in 2001 along with with Steve as a sample CD company and has been running ever since. It is a very small cottage industry and the collection of sample CDs were all made by myself or Steve (with the exception of Bubony). If you are wondering why there is no address on the site, it is because I work from home, this is a very very small business and I do not want my home address available to the whole world. If you need my address send me an email and I will mail it back to you :)

What are Digital Downloads?

These days MP3s have become the norm and it is a widely used way of buying music over the internet, especially since broadband(ADSL) is now commonplace, for example sites such as Itunes. It has the benefit of being instantly available upon payment, and you can burn your own CD, or listen on your IPOD or computer. All HGS mp3s are very high quality 256kbs files encoded using the high quality settings, I decided to stick to 256 as some players, especially DVD players have trouble with 320kbs. These are then compressed into a zip file for ease of downloading and keeping the album together, artwork is also included for printing out the cover when available. Most albums are around 100mb to download and so broadband is highly recommended. If you are on a modem and want some of our releases, send me an email after paying and I'll get them on a cdr to you in the post.

The Sample CD Releases are now all download products, I no longer ship CDs for the time being as most people in recent times have preferred downloads & instant gratification :) If you do not have broadband and wish some products sent out to you just send me an email. The samples are compressed into rar files so you need an application such as Winrar to uncompress them. The compressed sizes tend to be around 1/2 to 1/3 of the listed disc size, larger discs are split into 2 parts for easier downloading.

Is the payment method secure?

I accept payment via Paypal only nowadays. I have been using 2checkout for the past few years as well but it has been very rare that anyone pays with credit cards, and so I have abandoned it in favor of Paypal. Just to stress again that I do not ever see your credit card details and they are never asked for on HGSounds, I leave that to the experts at Paypal. I do not store addresses on the site, as this is a download only site I only need your email address and a username.

What about currencies?

I now only accept UK Pounds, there is a an approximate conversion for dollars and EUROs under each price on the site.

Serial Numbers

Any VST Products which require a license number needs to be processed by hand so please allow 24 hours before worrying, I do them as soon as I see them. Most products do not need a license number these days.

VST Instruments and FX
All my vsti's are for Windows XP and Above and some may require an SSE enabled processor which DAWS really need anyhow in this VST age. All products are downloadable and instantly available after purchase. If you have any problems please either email me or post in the relevant forum and I'll try and get it sorted as soon as possible.

Synthedit Modules
Currently all Synthedit Modules are free to use in your projects and require no payment, however donations are always welcome :)

About the Samples.

Homegrown Sounds is a small business, and copyright/licensing is owned for all sounds available. 90% of all CDs are created in house. I try to provide sample CDs a bit different to the norm, and generally have 'a sound' much like a record label. We supply the sounds as downloads to keep the costs low and so you get them instantly, which is why our collections cost much less than other sample CDs, I believe that professional quality shoudn't cost a fortune.

Licensing

As with all sample collections, proof of purchase constitutes a single user license to use the supplied sounds in Music Production. No further Royalty fees are applicable. Ownership/Copyright of the sounds remains with Homegrown Sounds. As with all copyrighted material there are no returns so please make sure you test out the freebies to verify compatibility.

Privacy

I hate spam, I would never participate. Any personal information you enter on the site such as your address or email remains confidential. I only use it to fulfill your order and none of your personal information will never be passed on to 3rd Parties under any circumstances.

I do not take money for adverts on the site as a rule, any banners on here are for things I consider worthwhile which is generally sites trying to make our world better and more equal place!
