Here are some of the reviews\comments various Astralis Synths have received:
Sound on Sound
"Astralis includes an excellent combination of effect options, including Drive, Reverb, Delay, Ring Modulation, and Organic (a further delay based effect). For me, however, the highlights are the Arpeggiator, Modulation Sequencer and Envelope Gate Sequencer. Whether you want disco style arpeggios or Trance style rhythmic gated effects, Astralis has plenty of potential... ...The presets do an excellent job of demonstrating what Astralis is capabale of. There is some truly wonderful stuff amongst this lot, from scary sci-fi pads and soundscapes through to trance-friendly, mod sequenced, analogue style beeps. The presets also demonstrate that Astralis can do both subtlety and in your face aggression." - John Walden (Sound on Sound 08/07)

"Astralis introduces itself as an instrument dedicated to textures creation and other spatial explorations. This allows you to expect the usual bath of flabby reverbs and spongy echoes that this kind of lyricism generally promises. Surprise : such is not the dominant colour. Astralis's deep nature proves to be more muscular than the one of your average "space synth", sometimes with a well-tempered aggressivity, without turning into FSU/destroy mash. Its armada of effects and its many features make it very versatile, but of course, buying it to program standard basses and classical leads will not be the most logical use. On the other hand, if you like to create experimental electro-acoustic oriented sounds, this is the perfect example of a software that will keep you awake at night. And a few minor variations are enough to transform a preset into a very different variant, so once that you will master the software, your patches library is bound to grow quickly." - Tom at Inspira Sons

"Just one more email to say that 'C' is fantastic.... wow!!! I was thinking as I was working with the beta version last night (into the small hours)... this is the most exciting thing to happen to VSTi synths in around 5 years. All credit to you. The sounds are awe inspiring! The 'tweakability' of this synth is like no other synth I have worked with before. It is intuitive, looks great and above all sounds fantastic. No one else has achieved such great results with synth edit. It is the perfect addition for my soundtrack and sound art work."

User Interface :
The GUI is nice and sober which is perfect in this context of an ambient/athmospheric synth. It is easy to use from the start and it is very logical in his conception: in the left synth one and two, in the right the effect section, modulation, sequencer, microtuner. In the top of the synth you can find generals adjustments and a virtual keyboard who can hold keys (very handy to create your own presets!)
Sound and features:
Currently Astralis is compose by three synths: Astralis A, B and C (still in beta version at this time).
Astralis A and B are waveforms based synths with various possibilities (see main features) concerning effects,
modulations options, routing and to handle waveforms. It's simple you can do all you want with waveforms and create your own sound easily (bass, rythmic sounds, pads, athmospheres). All these sounds are moving wich is perfect for soundscapes. Astralis B is the same but with reduced cpu. That's great with Astralis A to produce sounds with more space. Astralis C is a sample based synth. It's a beta version at this time but works very well and increase greatly the possibilities. To summarize, the Astralis pack is a real quality sound factory : almost all sounds can be created and give a total control on these sounds. And in this point of view it offer me more that I expected.
Documentation and Customer Support:
Astralis have a manual made a little bit like an e-page which is very fine. In it we can find all the needed to understand how works Astralis and the microtonal scales. Necessary to create your own presets this documentation is fully printable. If ever have problems or a question the Hg Sounds site have a users forum. Otherwise the Hg Sounds team is nice and very reactive with users.
Stability:
I've a P4 processor with 512 Ram: not the must for audio recording. Astralis need cpu but never crash. This need of cpu isn't an handicap for me because he give me enormously.
Value For Money:
A must: finally Astralis will compose of four synths and a indepedent effect section. I bought it with the offer and I would remake this choice even without this offer.
User Resetti:
Andy,
First let me say, Astralis is an extremely nice synth and has become a valuable part of many of my projects. The gui is well laid out and all the controls seem easy to access. The various tabs.....effects, modulation, sequence, microtuner, advanced, and the general set up results in a smooth workflow in my experience. The potential for unlimited sound design is attractive and just makes me feel good when I know there is always a new tweak or twist to discover. I can't thank you enough for the microtuner aspects and design as many of my projects use scala files. I use Dimension Pro, Octopus, and sometimes Abakos Pro for projects requiring various scala tunings, and I think your gui layout and design puts Astralis at the top of that list in the "scala user friendly" category. For me, at least, the process of using microtuning effectively seems to result in something like an endless learning curve, so I appreciate the "description" feature and anything else in the form of scala information. Now I can feel confident when I need that special Mideast component for an underscore or need to know the difference between the "Emperor's China" and the backstreets of Hong Kong. At least that is the idea suggested by the Astralis gui. Real nice.
Astralis C is wonderful as well. I haven't tried the new version yet, but I have been having a good time with a Greek instrument preset I developed using the original beta version.
Thanks again, Andy, for a great synth and the apparent extra insight you gave in it's development.

Hi Andy
This is a perfect add-on to the A and B VSTi's. I am using all three to make the majority of my sounds in my current music work. Astralis A is awesome, B is great, especially with the TC presets. He has a great mind for thinking up these wonderful soundscapes and C has that extra dimension of allowing samples to be used.
I can't wait for the final version of C to be released. I've been looking for another addition to my plugin arsenal and this family of VSTi's is perfect.

I'll tell you one thing now, and you can quote me on this if you like: as soon as I heard the scales and even the present I knew I had to have this. We use Arturia's Moog Modular V and a Korg Legacy as our other softsynths at present, and Astralis serves as a great compliment and addition to these two. I like it so much that I use it through a freeware VST host (with extra wretched fiddling demanded), as my Adobe Audition positively refuses to host VST.
