Arpeggiator

Arpeggiator

Astralis Synths have a sophisticated Arpeggiator wich can also function as a Note Sequencer. It also has a Step Enabler which when ON will allow skipping notes in the Sequence.

Arp Main Section

  • Retrigger - When enabled restarts the sequence, usually this should be enabled.
  • Fixed Velocity - Switches to use a constant velocity, otherwise actual Note Velocity is used.
  • Latch - When enabled notes are released just after a new note starts which means that Glide can be used. When off notes are triggered through the envelope as usual.
  • Pulse Length - Length of the held note time.
  • Mode - Various play modes:
    • Sequencer - Uses the sequencer see below. Note that in this mode the Octave setting has no effect.
    • Forward - Standard Arpeggiator Forward Mode through the octaves, in the order the notes were played.
    • Backward - Standard Arpeggiator Backward Mode through the octaves, in the order the notes were played
    • Alternate 1 - Alternate Up then Down.
    • Alternate 2 - Alternate Up then Down and play extra last note.
    • Alternate 3 - Alternate Down then Up.
    • Alternate 4 - Alternate Down then UP and play extra first note.
    • Random 1 - Random Note from currently Held Notes, Repeats can Occur.
    • Random 2 - Random Note from currently held notes, Repeats cannot Occur
    • Yoyo 1, Yoyo 2, Yoyo 3 - Various Octave based sequences, ignores Octave Setting.
    • Fifths - Plays held note, then fifth and moves to the next one.
    • Major - Plays major triad for each held note.
    • Minor - Plays Minor Triad for each held note.
    • Pattern 1, 2, 3 - Various Patterns, basically some sequencer mode presets.
    • More to come!
  • Tempo - Selects the tempo of the ARP clock.
  • Steps - How many steps will play in the sequencer/Note enabler.
  • Octaves - How many Octaves the ARP will cycle through.
  • Range - The keyboard range which the ARP will play on, notes between and including the yellow markers will play.

ARP Sequencer Top

The slider bars dictate the value of each step in the sequencer, clicking will put the bar to the clicked position, hold CTRL for Fine adjustsments, dragging across the range will 'draw a shape' to work on one bar at a time Holld down the SHIFT key. double clicking will reset the bar to it's default. The bars can operate freeform or in stepped positions depending on which mode is selected.
  • RESET SLIDERS - Green button to the left will switch all to FULL or a subsequent click will set all to 0.
  • SHIFT LEFT/RIGHT - The Triangle buttons will move the pattern either left or right by 1 step.
  • DEFAULT - Sets the Section to its default values
  • FLIP - This will reverse the bars, if RND Lock is ON, it will only reverse the active section, otherwise it will reverse the full range.
  • RND LOCK - Locks the random mode to only affect the active steps when using Randomize, Flip or Shift Range, otherwise they will all affect the entire range.
  • RANDOMIZE - Randomizes the sliders.
Arp Sequencer Buttons

Represents notes in the sequence, matches up with the note sequencer in sequencer mode, only play positions which are enabled will play. When the Note Sequencer is disabled this can be used on all other ARP Modes and so adds an additional feature compared to usual Arpeggiators where notes can be skipped to create staggered rhythms and more complex rhythms. Also by setting the steop amount to an irregular amount ie; 5 it will cycle through different notes in the arpeggiation to create even more complex structures.
  • RANDOMIZE - Randomizes the Buttons.
