1. Most sampled instrument sounds usually contain a set root key in the soundfile. When this is the case NN-XT can then read and set the root key on loading. When this is not the case (for example, a sample you recorded yourself) you need to set the root note manually

To do this make sure the zone is selected and has edit focus. The root note can now easily be set via the Root knob at the far left of the Sample Parameter area. The note shown above this knob always displays the root note of the zone with edit focus.
Alternatively you can set the root note of a sample in NN-XT by pressing Ctrl (or Command for the Mac) and then clicking on the required key in the keyboard display.

2. For samples that require fine tuning use the Tune knob directly to the right of the Root knob in the sample parameters area. This allows you to tune the zone with edit focus by increments of half a semitone.

3. For more problematic samples (insofar as they have some form of recognisable pitch) NN-XT provides automatic pitch detection. Select the zone or zones in question and then right click for the drop-down context menu and choose Set Root Notes from Pitch Detection.
4. When using multi samples to create a complete instrument a good way to get started is by using Automap. Load your samples and, if necessary, set their root notes as outlined in the methods above. Next select the relevant zones and choose Automap Zones from the context menu. Now the selected samples will be organised in the display - and have their key ranges assigned - in accordance with their root keys
